UvA (University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands) offers wireless network to all students and employes. However, the setup described at the UvA site
does not work on my Samsung Omnia phone.
After many wasted hours, here are the steps that worked for me:
- Don't use the latest SecureW2 version. Use the one attached here. This is the only one that worked for me. I found it at the SecureW2's forums.
- Wireless settings: For network name use "uva" or "eduroam" (preferably the 2nd so you will get wireless access in other academic institutions using your uvaID --- at least that's how it's supposed to work; I haven't tried it), authentication "open", data encryption "WEP", enable "The key is automatically provided". Tick on the "Use IEEE 802.1x network access control" and select EAP Type to be "SecureW2 TTLS".
- Click on Properties for the SecureW2 TTLS . Enable "Use alternate outer identity", and select "Use anonymous outer identity". Enable "Veriry server certificate". Use your uvaID account info (username and password), and for domain use "uva.nl". At the Advanced settings, tick only "Allow users to setup new connections".
- Reboot your device. Do NOT ignore this step; it proved critical in my case.
- Try to connect, and the first time accept the certificates.
Good luck!
